How do I join the Eritrean Elders Welfare Association (EEWA)?



Joining EEWA is simple! If you are 50 years or older, you are eligible to become a member. You can visit our Senior Social Club, attend one of our events, or contact us directly to sign up. Our team will guide you through the membership process and introduce you to the services available to you.

What services does EEWA provide?



EEWA provides a range of services to support Eritrean elders in London, including:Senior Social Club & Community Engagement – A welcoming space for elders to socialize, enjoy refreshments, and take part in activities.

• Healthcare Support – Guidance on accessing NHS services, digital health training, and bringing in volunteer nurses for additional support.

• Organized Trips & Events – Cultural outings, recreational activities, and celebrations to keep elders engaged.D

• Training & Support – Teaching elders how to use smartphones, book appointments online, and access essential services.

• Transportation Assistance – Partnering with Pepper Pot and Westway to help elders attend medical appointments and social gatherings.

Do you provide home visits for elders who cannot attend in person?



Yes! We understand that some elders may have mobility challenges or health conditions that prevent them from attending our programs in person. Through our home and hospital visit service, we provide companionship, practical support, and healthcare guidance to ensure no elder is left behind.

What healthcare support does EEWA offer?



While EEWA is not a medical provider, we work closely with volunteer nurses, healthcare consultants, and partner organizations to support elders with their healthcare needs. Our healthcare initiatives include:

• Helping elders book medical appointments & navigate NHS services

• Providing digital health training for using NHS apps and online services

• Bringing in volunteer nurses for health checks & medication support

• Offering transport assistance for medical visits

What transport options are available for elders?



Many elders struggle to get to appointments, social clubs, and community events due to transportation barriers. EEWA is working with Pepper Pot, Westway, and local partners to:

• Offer volunteer-driven transport for medical visits and social gatherings

• Provide travel training for elders unfamiliar with public transport

• Assist in applying for free elder travel passes

Where is the Senior Social Club located, and when can I attend?



EEWA receives funding through grants, community partnerships, and generous donations from individuals and organizations. We also work with Westway, Ubuntu Pledge, and OpenAge to bring in additional funding for healthcare, transport, and digital training initiatives.
